Clouded Night Empty
PostSubject: Clouded Night   Clouded Night I_icon_minitimeFri Jul 19, 2013 11:06 am

The dim light of the moon made almost no effect on the dark world below. Dense clouds covered it's light blocking out any aide to any night goers and making their travels all the much harder. Small creatures chirped here and there, filling the place with a light music that would resonate softly all around. Other than that almost nothing could be heard, whether that was a good thing was up to the traveler. Most of the earth was dark, covered in a heavy drape but within the forest the trees glowed with the moss upon their trunks, giving the faintest sense of security. To her, it was calm and perfect.

Sophia placed her back against one of the trees, taking deep breaths and closing her eyes. Once she felt more at peace with herself, easily the woman slid down the trunk before she felt the moist earth beneath her. The sigh she gave was one of relief and tranquility, there was nothing to bother her here. I can rest... and resume tomorrow. I just have to rest. Sophia had pushed herself to travel here by foot, she had no means to travel here any other way. It had taken her two days, of travel and almost no sleep to make it this far and now she was so close to her destination, but if she did not rest soon she was sure she would not make it. The woman pulled down the piece of cloth with which she hid her face and exhaled. Fresh cool air caressed her hot face as she took a simple sip from her source of water. Sophia set nothing up for herself, she just placed her things to her side and leaned against the tree. She had to be ready to continue to travel as soon as the light of the sun peaked it's way over the corners of the earth.

The woman resumed to cover her face, if there was the slightest chance of someone traveling by, she would rather them see a man than a woman. That was who she was. Sophia would hide her true self in any and all situations. She would not risk herself to giving anyone her biggest secret, and as simple as it was the secret was her biggest one. She would dress and look like a man all day, all night. Her long hair was carefully braided and hidden, her feminine features were covered by the cloth that covered her entire face other than her eyes.  Everything else, her woman like frame was covered by layers of clothing making the appearance of a small chubby man. Once she was sure she was as manly looking as possible she closed her eyes and tried to rest. Yet, something nagged at her mind. Every time her eyes would close and she was close to the world of dreams, she felt disturbed. Sighing, she leaned forward trying to clear her head.

Arvon leaned his back against the hard trunk. He could feel the rugged texture through his shirt and as he pushed on the wood he could feel the firmness within and drew comfort from in. This tree wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon. Shifting slightly so his right leg hung down from the branch he sat atop the teenager continued to twirl his knife. His nimble fingers preformed precise flips and tricks that only an experienced blades-man could master with ease as he stared off into the dimly lit forest a bored expression upon his face. The young deity had been watching the new countries repeat the mistakes of the last civilizations to walk this planet with disappointment When the humans had arrived he had been weak and ready to die. But their presence and prayers brought him back to life and he was cautiously optimistic that they might actually get past the troubles the other humans had and live here for eternity. Although he wanted such things to be true he had to admit that he wasn't surprised when Argo attacked Kane once again plunging the world into war.

He was however amused how things turned out with the pirates, such villains becoming the peoples heroes? It was too so sad he couldn't help but shake his head, Had they not seen the horrors they had committed in the earlier war, he knew rumors had circulated through the streets like wildfire at the time. Yet here they were being seen as the heroes, the only hope for salvation for the people of Argo. Did they not remember the country to which the outlaws fled? Steva wasn't completely out of the race, they still had plenty of teeth and claws left to use. Bah, why concern himself with such trivial matters, he had no power to change everything, even as a deity. Suddenly he became alert, his body moving forward as he searched the ground bellow for any sign of others. The light bellow although dim allowed him to see the forest floor quite easily, while at the same time it dulled the other people's eyes to the darkness and hide him spectacularly. Selecting a tree where the moss didn't grow up to this height he was well hidden by the shadows and leaves while at the same time the height afforded him a spectacular view of the florescent moss that lit the forest with its warm glow.

Arvon's keen eyes picked out the form of a person and followed it until they vanished under his tree, where to his surprise they stopped and sat down. Who ever it was had been in a rather big hurry, he could hear their panting from way up there. Cocking his head he silently wrapped his legs around the tree branch, using their strength to hold him on as he slipped off tot he right into he was jutting out horizontally from t he wood. He could now see the person better without being seen, well so long as they didn't look up. Why were they in such a hurry, and who in their right mind would enter the Firefly forest at this time of night. he paused noting that he was in the forest at this kind of hour but dismissing it since he was undoubtedly crazy. They said some deities went nuts after living for so long. Still he couldn't get a very good view, casting his sense outward he located a near by owl and called to it. The disgruntled bird was not keen to comply with his wishes at first. But with a little persuasion and a promise to tell him where a mouse could be found, it silently flew over and perched on a branch that afforded it the best view of the person. Closing his eyes Arvon connected with the creature of the sky, using his eyes to watch the person. At first he thought the person to be a rather chubby man, but to his great shock the person took off the cloth covering their face, revealing that he was in fact a woman!

He barely managed to stay on his branch as the realization hit him, however he forgot all about the knife in his had and it tumbled to the earth aiming for the unsuspecting lady bellow. Hit with the initial shock and then blasted by the panic that flooded through the deity the frightened owl took wing just as Arvon reached out and stopped the blade with his second power. The knife hung a foot above the woman's head, its wickedly sharp blade pointed downward ready to pierce her skull. With a quiet sigh of relief he called the object back to his hand, the blade began to rise slowly so as to not create any sound, before reconnecting with the owl long enough to inform him of a mouse's location. Well the peaceful night had turned into a circus, why wasn't he entirely surprised...or disappointed?

Clouded Night Empty

The woman leaned forward, her mind was a storm of doubts and she couldn’t clear it. Should I really be resting? I think I can keep going… No I must rest. What if I just try? Nope. She leaned back into the tree, attempting  to close her eyes and find the peace within herself to rest. Slowly she did begin to calm down, and the doubts vanished like the mist in the early morning. She exhaled deeply and readjusted her mask before crossing her arms over her chest. The faintest hint of the beating of wings of an owl caught her attention but for now she dismissed it as another bird. Nothing to worry about.

Sophia slipped into her light doze, before she heard a creak and a bird startled nearby before flying off. The woman was fully alert now, and she instantly had her hand over the wavy-edged Kris daggers she hid. Her fingers wrapped around the cool hilt of the dagger, her eyes narrowing. She felt something odd, a presence but what it was she could not decide. She remained oblivious to what had been hanging over her head just seconds ago, ready to end her life then and there while being less than feet away from her.  However, instead of pondering over what it was the woman simply scowled silently and rose to her feet, keeping her back firmly against the bark of the tree she was by. Her light brown gaze darkened as she narrowed her eyes and her grip tightened on the dagger at her waist. If I were hiding where would I be? Her gaze turned left and right searching every inch of visible surface  before it clicked in her head, Up, I would be up Sophia turned to the tree and looked up.

Glowing mosses grew on the trees, but even that wasn’t bright enough to illuminate whatever was up there. Sophia could only make out the shadows, and she searched feverishly for anything that looked strange, not right or anything to give her an idea of whom or what this was and how to deal with it. As she took a step back, even with the very low dim light of the moon, a blade reflected light for a brief second before disappearing. A small smirk spread over the woman’s hidden face, as she slipped the dagger out of its sheath. Slowly she passed it behind her back, her gloved hand passing it to the other in a matter of seconds before she had it in her right hand. Swiftly she threw it, threw it to where she had seen the glint. Rarely did she miss a short throw and soon the welcome sound of the blade entering the wood of the tree, reached her ears and as she looked back up once more. As Sophia did so a shadow became more apparent now and she kept her eyes trained on it. She compared its position to where she could see her dagger still softly wobbling after the impact. Much to her dismay she was not close to killing whoever was up there. But Sophia had managed to get it into the tree, at least mere inches from whoever was there. It was a warning and they had three options, as she slowly reached for her Kampilan: First, they could flee. Second, they could show themselves, or three they could fight her.

The woman could have fled the moment she felt unease, but she was tired. She could have run away when she heard strange noises, but she couldn’t. Sophia was limp, and even if it were not for her forever damaged leg, she still would have stayed to fight. The woman was not afraid, she was ready and even at her weakest she was always prepared for a fight. Sophia knew she couldn’t win them all, but she wouldn’t go down without a try.  Her fingers touched the hilt of the two swords, her eyes narrowed.  There were times she was very glad for her dress up, not many would take a lonely woman seriously, but now here she was dressed up like a man about to grab a tight hold of the sword. She was very ready for any action the person took next.

Clouded Night Empty
PostSubject: Re: Clouded Night   Clouded Night I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 23, 2013 12:08 am

Sophia's aim had been true and had it not been for the wind that screamed out a warning before deflecting the blade so it buried itself into the wood, he would have been dead right now.  His heart pounded in his chest, threatening to burst outward from the sudden start. He remained still however his eyes never leaving the form bellow as he carefully slipped his blade back into its sheath not wanting to have a fight, there was no need for violence tonight. However this woman didn't know that, she was ready to fight even though he knew she was exhausted. Sighing he let go of the branch and fell, flipping in the air as he did so so his feet were facing the ground rather then his head. When he hit the ground he crouched most of the impact absorbed by pockets of air he had placed underneath his feet to cushion his fall. He would have normally rolled but given the limited space between him and the woman and her already hostile stance he didn't want to provoke an attack. Not that she could harm him, he weapon was her own worst enemy against him. Like his knife he could take control of the inanimate object and bend it to his will, even she couldn't fight against he own sword. Nope there was no need for violence, the night was too peaceful to shattering it with the sound of agony or death.

Remaining in his crouched position Arvon rested his elbows on his knees, his entire poster was calm and poised, relaxed even. He didn't appear to be in any hurry, nor did he make any attempt to convince her that he wasn't about to attack. He merely smiled. "Nice nice isn't it?" His clear gaze left her and moved to the forest. "I apologize for startling you, i didn't expect to have company out here, few people dare to travel through these forest at such late an hour. It can be dangerous for those who don't understand the ways of this land, or refuse to respect it." His fingers found a long blade of grass and began twirling it absentmindedly. Drinking in his fill of the forest he turned his green gaze back to the woman who had once against disguised herself as a man. He had to admit the costume was rather convincing, had he not seen her face he would have thought she was indeed a man. That didn't changed his opinion of her, no he knew  a woman was just as deadly as a guy, deadlier even.

He thought it funny that she chose to disguise herself, yet sad at the same time. It was disappointing that the people in this world looked down upon woman so much that this one felt the need to pretend to be something she was not. Smiling he gave a small nod. "The names Arvon Windwake, it is a pleasure to meet you, sir." he added the last part so as not to let on he knew who she was, it also seemed rather respectful and he hoped this would put her at ease. He was still crouching like a jungle cat, his calm forest green eyes meeting her gaze without flinching.

Clouded Night Empty
PostSubject: Re: Clouded Night   Clouded Night I_icon_minitimeThu Jul 25, 2013 9:52 pm

The hilt of the first sword felt cool and familiar underneath Sophia’s hand as she curled her fingers tightly around it. Her light brown gaze remained on this person as they made their way down from the tree, landing ever so neatly on the ground below. Underneath her mask she clenched her teeth, half of her wished to grab the sword and get ready but as she saw this person who she now made out to seem like a very young man, she left the sword where it was. Her grip didn’t loosen though, not in the slightest bit. In fact it tightened as his voice reached her. "I apologize for startling you… few people dare to travel through these forest at such late an hour. It can be dangerous for those who … refuse to respect it." Sophia only listened to some parts, or what she considered most important before narrowing her eyes at the man. She said nothing, she just kept her hand on her sword.

From where she stood, and with the aid of the glowing mosses Sophia began to slowly make out this person before her. It was a man, a very young one it seemed. He did not appear to be much older than her, in fact to her he seemed to be very, very young. As she continued to watch him, she noticed his auburn hair, his well-tanned skin, the fact that he was rather handsome but most noticeable of all to her observant eyes was the scar on the left side of his face. She still said nothing, she just continued to listen. His voice seemed friendly enough but then again he could be deceiving her. She was trying to do that to him just now, attempting to make him believe she was a man. She gave him one last glance; he didn’t seem to have any weapons. With this, she started to slowly release the sword. If he didn’t have weapons this would be easy if he attacked, or so she thought.

Sophia startled hearing his voice once more. Her thoughts had been many, as she tried to memorize everything about this person that she could. The woman heard him say his name, “The names Arvon Windwake, it is a pleasure to meet you, sir.” A soft sigh of relief escaped her lips, she was starting to wonder if he had seen her. The ‘sir’ gave her the sense that he had not and she instantly felt much better, once more releasing the sword ever so slightly. Sophia narrowed her eyes, it would be disrespectful not to answer but she wasn’t one to talk. Her mind raced, What do I do? Sighing inwardly she raised a brow and nodded her head, acknowledging who he was. Sophia bit her tongue and thought of a name before answering, “Antonio Parks, the pleasure is mine.” Her voice was already a deep throaty whisper and muffled by the mask. It would save her for a while at least. She bowed her head to him once more and finally released the sword in her grip.

Clouded Night Empty
PostSubject: Re: Clouded Night   Clouded Night I_icon_minitimeMon Aug 05, 2013 7:41 pm

He resisted the urge  to smile in satisfaction when the woman visibly relaxed after he had called her sir. The term was relative, he had called plenty of women who held high ranks 'sir'. But it seemed this one related it to that of a man, that was a good thing, / it got her to loosen her grip on her sword. Arvon didn't need any conflict, he appeared to be unarmed. His knife was well hidden and he had placed his swords in an alternate dimension he controlled that allowed him to seemingly create objects out of  thin air. Where he could call upon them at anytime, not that he needed he fought better with his hands, this plus the fact that he could control this woman's weapon meant he was far deadlier then he appeared. Of course he had no desire to alert this lady to her mistake, he wanted to avoid a fight not start one. He gave a small nod when she introduced herself. She did a good job at disguising her voice, had he not seen her without the mask he'd have been fooled by her little facade. He was curious as to why she chose to go around acting and looking like a guy, what caused her to make such a life changing decision.

"So tell me Antonio, what brings you into the forest so late at night?" A relatively invasive question although the most logical. In this world it could be dangerous to ask someone why they went skulking about during the witching hour. It was all rather suspicious to say the least. Of course the same could be said for him, he to was out and about in the middle of the night. of course his reasons were anything but suspicious this person didn't know that. Oh well, if he could get a conversation going he might be able to get her to reveal herself, if not he could at least find some point to show her that he was trustworthy before spilling the beans.  Even if the conversation involved her insulting or badgering him with questions. He was a patient deity, if he waited he'd get the desired response.

Clouded Night Empty
PostSubject: Re: Clouded Night   Clouded Night I_icon_minitimeMon Aug 12, 2013 7:59 pm

The quiet lengthened as Sophia pondered over the question. What could she possibly answer that wouldn't lead to more questions? Her mind raced as her fingers curled around nothing but themselves. It took her a few seconds to realize she had released her weapons just seconds before, trusting the man to be trustworthy and a friend if you could call a new found stranger in the dark Firefly forest a friend. Once again, returning from her small distraction Sophia wondered about the man's question. Well she could ask him the same thing, what was he doing here? She was running, running all the time. But he, well she highly doubted that he to was running from something. The man, whose name she now knew to be Arvon, seemed to be relaxed and at ease. So how could she answer, without seeming suspicious? Lying. The woman had become very good at it. She would lie about her name, her age, her true intentions, she lied about her gender! She was made of lies. Taking a deep breath and attempting her best not to fail on the voice and accent she had used before she answered him, "It is the only way to travel." She tried to keep her answer short, "The day is too hot and obvious. The darkness suits me... best."

Sophia thought her answer was quite good actually, not too long, not too short for her it was just right. The woman just merely hoped more questions wouldn't come her way but she wasn't going to be rude either. I can stay here, probably lead this man to know my secret, or i can be rude and leave him hanging... Sophia clenched her teeth, she wasn't rude enough to leave him when he seemed so kind. It was definitely a big difference from what she was used to, most men would try to prove themselves after encountering another, but Arvon didn't. Now she felt like she owed him an explanation. Great... Well I guess it can't hurt. Besides it's not like he will ever know...

Clouded Night Empty
PostSubject: Re: Clouded Night   Clouded Night I_icon_minitimeFri Aug 23, 2013 5:40 pm

The only way to travel. Well he hadn't heard that comment in a while, and like before it was a shaky attempt to cover up what really was going on. If one was merely traveling why would they move at such a quick pace? Even though he didn't believe it, he dropped the matter. If they didn't want to tell then who was he to push them for an answer. At least she was no longer grasping her sword, this was a plus at least. "The darkness suits many it would seem." he commented, stretching as he stood.  Leaning against the trunk he crossed his arm as he relaxed.  Wood dug into his shoulders letting him know that he had missed the moss, he didn't need his back to be soaked and glowing for the rest of the evening. "So tell me, where are you traveling to?"

Scratching his scar on his face absentmindedly he looked off into distance. "The forest is extremely dangerous even in the day, no one usually dares to enter them at night. Too many hungry and vicious creatures to contend with." His eyes drifted back to Parks and he cocked his head. "You look like you're ready to fight." His lips twitched in a ghost of a smile. He must look funny, standing here with no weapons in a dangerous forest, preaching about how dangerous this place was. Funny or suspicious, he didn't really care so long as the woman didn't go for her sword.

A bird silently soared overhead, the quiet of the owl's flight would have gone unnoticed if it weren't for his powers. He could feel the wings cutting through the wind, the air flowing over each feather, bumping into the limp body of the mouse that hung from the predator's talons. So he had found the mouse then and was flying by to let him know he had gotten it. Arvon didn't so much as glance up as the bird ghosted over them.

Clouded Night Empty
PostSubject: Re: Clouded Night   Clouded Night I_icon_minitimeSun Sep 08, 2013 5:01 pm

{Late reply, I know sorry!}

Sophia watched the man curiously as he agreed with her comment on the darkness suiting for travel. The female nodded her head quickly and folded her arms before her chest and standing more comfortably though that meant widening her stance, her feet a shoulder length apart. Upon hearing him once more, Sophia;s eyes narrowed dangerously. Where she was traveling to? Well not even she knew, she just knew that the moment she was out of the forest she would be taking the first ship out of there, but she didn't want him to know this and she definitely did not want anyone knowing where she was going if she even had an idea. Leaning back slightly, she replied in a low grumble, "I merely move from place to place and do not decide where I will land until I reach the crossroad." Her eyes shifted down and to the left as she spoke before she quickly averted them back to him. She was hiding something that was clear, but how could she trust a man out in the forest?

"The forest is extremely dangerous even in the day, no one usually dares to enter them at night. Too many hungry and vicious creatures to contend with." Sophia rose a brow and couldn't help the snort that escaped her. This man, Arvon to be exact, was telling her it was dangerous and then pointing out that she was ready to fight? Well of course she was ready to fight! She would be crazy if she wasn;t. The forest was dangerous, who knew how many other dangers there were here. But the woman could not help but be suspicious. The man was claiming the dangers of the forest and here he was, free of weapons, free of anything to defend himself. Sophia wrinkled her nose in a scowl her levels of suspicion rising incredibly fast.

Now that she had answered with a faint nod she took a step closer to both her sword and the man her chocolate brown orbs narrowed. "Now that I have answered you, you must answer me. Why do you travel the night?" Her fingers twitched as she still gripped her upper arms her arms crossed. Her suspicion was rising and her trust in the man falling. Who was he really? What was he doing in the forest? Where had he come from? Why? It seemed it always led to why and she was desperate to know.
